Big News: We’re Building to Meet the Need

Today, we’re publicly announcing some really big news: we are raising $18,000,000 to update and expand Ranch facilities and programming!

For 93 years, Spring Lake Ranch has been helping those experiencing mental illness and substance use challenges through our distinctive, agriculture-based work therapy and supportive, inclusive community. Over those years, we have grown and adapted to meet the needs of our residents.

Now, we face a new challenge, and, with your help, we are meeting it head-on. According to The Pew Charitable Trusts, America is experiencing a mental health crisis with stark increases in mental health risks (including a 52% increase in suicide among youth and young adults since 2000), a lack of care for people with serious mental illness (SMI), and rates of drug overdoses doubling since 2015. Importantly, Pew states that true “recovery requires a focus on the 3 P’s: people, place, and purpose” and a “care system that ensures social support, a safe and nurturing environment, and a reason or mission to recover.” (More information here.)

In response to this challenge, Spring Lake Ranch is updating and expanding our campus to provide the best care possible to even more residents. Many of our buildings need necessary updates and expansion, including the Main House, kitchen, People’s Kitchen for resident use, gym, and barns. We’re also adding infrastructure to make the Ranch more functionally and financially sustainable. Lastly, we are building a new Transitional Living Program, which will include twelve apartments and suites, as well as a Community Center. Residents who are ready for more independence but not quite ready to leave the Ranch can stay for a longer period of time at a lower cost.

All of our Capital Campaign projects were chosen because they align with our mission, our values, and our commitment to Spring Lake Ranch’s model of care. Thanks to the support of early donors, we have already raised $14.5 million toward our $18 million goal. With your help, we can raise the final $3.5 by December 2026!
