Our Summer Nutrition Week theme was all about learning how to manage emotional eating. It was a wonderful week full of new insights and deepening self-awareness!

Throughout the week, one of our amazing clinicians, Derrick, and I led workshops for each crew focused on identifying hunger and satiety cues, culminating with a mindful eating exercise. Elliot House PC Liz and I led a healthy snacking and mindful eating workshop for the folks in Elliot House, which led to some great balanced snack ideas that residents could make throughout the week. Towards the end of the week, I also led a workshop about balancing nutrition with healthy exercise! We talked about how to time meals and snacks based on workout routines and health goals. We also talked about optimal protein and carbs for those meals and snacks using great real-life examples.

As always, I loved seeing all of my residents for in-person, 1:1 nutrition education and counseling. It was lovely to see the progress folks have made as we’ve been working together and to witness it in real-time in the dining hall as well! I am so grateful for the warm welcome from the Ranch and look forward to our next Nutrition Week coming up in October!
